What is the difference between しのび and 忍び

I’m trying to understand how the term “Shinobi” is written in Japanese and see both of the above examples given when I try to use a translator method. However, I’m not sure which means Shinobi or what the difference is. Any help appreciated.

  1. One is written in hiragana and the other uses kanji. No difference in meaning but the kanji version is more common. Both will look equally stupid on a tattoo.
