Last letter from Yamagami, who assassinated Abe, to a journalist

XX, long time no see.

How long has it been since I left a comment on the blog under the name of ‘not yet enough’?

I wrote, ‘I need a gun so much’, but since that day, I’ve spent all my energy and money trying to get a gun.

It’s like a member of the Unification Church who gave up his life for a fake savior.

The directions are opposite, but these days, I think I am very similar to them.

The relationship between me and the Unification Church goes back about 30 years.

Since my mother joined the Unification Church, my mother has been wasting more than a million dollars, and the family’s prosperity and bankruptcy…

In the process, my teenage years passed.
It is no exaggeration to say that the experiences I have experienced have endlessly distorted my life.

Adolescence is a time when individuals are making their own character and life.

For me it is…

A lie that parents can spit out because they don’t care about their children and their families.

Confident evil deeds with no way to stop it.

So the never-ending conflict, the destruction that lies ahead.

He(former head of the Unification Church) considers all the money and women in the world to be his natural possessions.

A self-proclaimed god who does not choose any means and methods to make it a reality.

Such a human being, and a group that worships such a person as a god in reality, the society in which it exists…

I wrote them as ‘the shame of mankind’, but I still have that thought.

I don’t like Abe, but he’s not a real enemy.

In any case, he is just one of the most influential supporters and adherents of the Unification Church in the real world.

I want to kill all of the Moon clan (the head of the Unification Church), but I know it’s impossible for me.

The division of the Unification Church organization is not something that happens all at once.

Hak Ja Han (current head of the Unification Church),
If it was difficult, I was going to at least kill one of the Moon’s blood relatives.

but,
When Hak Ja Han and her daughter die, the 3rd and 7th sons are happy,
Or the Unification Church will be reunited.
Neither one serves my purpose.

The political implications and consequences of Abe’s death…

I can’t afford to think about it anymore.

  1. IIRC the background was that a blog owner provided the letter to a newspaper saying that Yamagami had entrusted it to the blog owner, who found it after the killing. Not sure how they confirmed its authenticity.

  2. Is all Korean Christianity a cargo cult or are there some genuine practitioners of the teachings of Jesus too?

  3. Poor dude. That’s some religious trauma right there, all the way to a prime minister.

  4. I actually posted a similar translation of this very same letter on r/self a few hours ago. Truly fucked up, but at least you can see the guy had some understandable motivations. I think it’s really good that people spread awareness of all sides of this case. Cults can be truly evil.

  5. I feel bad for this guy… but at the same time, he’s brought light to a lot of other injustices/problems that would’ve otherwise been much more mellow to the average person. I hope some positive change comes out of this.

  6. I thought we weren’t supposed to glorify murderers. I don’t know what’s going on in Japan, but this sub sure is trying hard to excuse his actions while at the same time propagating his message.

    Downvote away.

  7. Sure, but this is not the way to solve anything. What has this accomplished? Nothing.

  8. Nice to see a bit of proof gun control works. Something positive from this I suppose?

  9. So this guy thinks killing a church leader is much harder than the leader of the third most powerful economy in the world???

  10. It is crazy how I accidentally read his name as “Yagami” when I first heard the news.

  11. I feel good people should begin perceiving this as “evil vs evil” case instead of trying to find good aspects in the criminal.

  12. I feel bad for this guy.. why the hell do we even allow these cults to exist? And a bigger question is do politicians (abe) actually have ties to these organizations? That is some fucking scary shit…

  13. I was going to reply to a comment pointing out why it was naive and pious, but then I saw that most of the thread is just another internet shit-fight.

Is it just me who’s old enough to remember when the internet was a place you could have good faith debates with your peers?

Anyway, my thanks to OP; it was an interesting post.

    Disappointed of Koto-ko

  14. Fuck. Sad to say, as a cult survivor born into a cult, I hate to say it but I can totally relate to the hate in his heart and the desire to destroy the leaders and the operators of such a destructive cult. But I did not lose my marbles to the point of making my own gun and going after a political figure related to it. This is just sad for everyone involved.
