Good morning fellow travelers!
Just trying to get the best bang for my buck, travelling from Tokyo->Osaka April 25th then back to Tokyo the following day. Looking at the tickets on SmartEX and it’s about 43,000 yen for 2 adults/2 kids each way. I feel like I checked another website and it was that much round trip. Maybe an error on my part? At this rate it looks like a better idea to get us JR passes (going for about 7 days). Any advice is super appreciated!

Are you booking the Green Class (First Class) seats? The regular one-way fare should be around 14,000 JPY per person. Be sure to put in the correct ages of your kids too as if they are 11 or younger they don’t pay the full fare.

If all you’re doing is tokyo-osaka round trip, the rail pass is not cheaper.
