Just Moved in today, and wondering if people have any recommendations, I have a Y’smart, OK and Ozeki all within maybe a 15-20minute walk, curious if anybody else knows any other good options?
There is a niku no hanamasa as well as a gyomu supa near shin okubo station both of which have cheap and decent quality (for its price) stuff.
Not discount per se but there was a Seiyu and Inageya on the Citizen side when I lived there 10ish years ago. Personally, I’ve always found Ozeki to be very reasonable.
The OK supermarket north of the station on Route 8 has great prices, but you have to become a member (card costs 100-200 yen) to get the 3% additional discount. Worth it, though.
When I was living there, I’d often shop at the OK supermarket because prices there were overall the cheapest. Y’smart is great for late night shopping, I believe it was open 24 hours. Ozeki for specific deals, they’re cheap for some stuff but not for others. If you want non-Japanese spices and ingredients, or bulk frozen, go to Shin-Okubo. You can walk there if you don’t want to take the train, it’s a nice short walk and you can avoid getting crushed by everyone wanting to go to the kpop/restaurant side.
I always thought Y’s mart was much pricier than most

/r/tokyo would hit the target audience better.
