Washing Nittori pillows

Nittori pillows are machine washable but Nittori’s website says “Machine washable (using net)”. I don’t have a net. Can I assume any differences (or damages) will be negligible if I wash without using a net?

  1. I washed my Nitori pillow without a net once and there was a huge earthquake followed by a nuclear meltdown.

  2. Nets are used to protect delicate clothes from being deformed in the wash, usually to prevent appendages from stretching out.

Pillows are honestly fine, and I cannot imagine just how a laundry net will help protect the pillow.

  3. if it is really dirty like it got pissed or juice-spilled I usually soak them in bathtub and add some light detergent (i use oxy clean tho) it may depend on whats inside the pillow, but washing machine usually end up deformed the wata or puffs inside and I dont like the end result.

but as much as possible I will just spray fabreeze or other similar spray cleaner, clean/wipe the surface then dry pillows under sunlight.

  4. I remember washing a body sized pillow from amazon in the coin laundry and it was not fun removing all those wet “cotton?” inside. So wash at your own risk.

  5. I only use a net to catch the fish that comes with the water sometimes, so it’s crucial to leave the net open

  6. Their instructions are incorrect, as you cannot use the internet to machine-wash a pillow. I’ve tried.

  7. These responses are killing me lol! Seriously, the 100 yen shops will have nets for delicate washables. If you’re not near one, does your washing machine have a 手洗う cycle on it? That’s usually gentle enough to not deform anything, I use it all the time on my machine without a net.
