I looked at this bit of grammar and I have yet to find an explanation that clicks with me. I really need your help to get me over this barrier, just what even is 込む supposed to mean when it is used in the N3 context? Just what is it doing to the verb in its stem form?

could be any one of these:
1. Non-inward action becomes inward
2. Inward action gets even deeper
3. Action gets enriched
4. Action repeats until satisfaction is reached
5. A few of the verbs are idiomatic
Which part did you have trouble with?
More of a thought on my part than much help. Im very new, but the radical below is usually on something going somewhere like and outward motion, sending road etc, then the inside character is enter, so like going out then in.

to fall IN love 惚れ込む
To to just go and decide something (playing INTO your thoughts) 思い込む
To cut INto 割り込む
To shake INto (i.e. to deposit money into (another account) 振り込む

It’s like REALLY INTO kinda vibe. Entering deep, really into, getting completely inside, along those vibes. This vocab is one of the beginner killers.
