This looks good. Anything that contains the smell and is self enclosed would be great.

Forgot to mention. I have a big block and some hatake so things on the bigger side are better. I’m also in the snowy winter part of the country.

Bokashi composting. You can get the supplies on Amazon. You basically ferment your food waste then bury it to complete the process. I bury mine in a bin of soil on my balcony. You can also look up another method called kiero キエロー which involves burying in soil directly. YouTube has lots of videos on these methods.
Vermicompost works well and the red wrigglers survive over winter no problem. Go to your local home center and grab the big black compost bin, dig down some to secure it, and start throwing those veggie scraps, coffee grinds and cardboard in it. It turns into a worm love hotel after a year and they just explode in your backyard.

We got this from our local D2. No smell through the lid even without the “deodorant stone”.
Also look up your cities website. We got like 3000¥ from our city for buying a compost.
I use this. https://i.imgur.com/jSzWK2Z.jpg
I keep a little 2-3 litre tub on my counter and empty it into the compost bin when it gets full. It’s convenient for me as I fill it with coffee and tea leaves, and vegetable cuttings.
The kitchen waste and garden waste gets mixed up in the compost bin with browns (leaves etc) and it’s worked well so far.
Good point is that it’s no fuss. Doesn’t smell.
Bad point is that it takes a while to break down but I add it too the garden once a year, or bits and pieces when needed, so it’s well broken down.
This is a smaller scale thing, but we’ve been using the compost bags from https://lfc-compost.jp/ for the past 6 months and it’s been great. I’ve got 2 (so I can fill one while the other is resting). Zero bugs as it’s zip closed. No smell either…it just smells like dirt.
The best part though, is being able to “opt out” of the typical food scraps workflow of “basket in/near the sink that gets slimy and smells up trash/beckons fruit flies” and get something in return.
