こんにちは fellow Japanese enthusiasts! I am going to Japan soon and have been working on completing the Japanese Pimsleur course to try and be prepared. I find that it helps me with my accent and articulation. However, after about an hour of practicing my spoken Japanese, my throat (specifically around where the tongue meets the bottom of the mouth + the lower back of the throat) begins to hurt. It feels tense and not necessarily painful, but very uncomfortable. I have struggled to find videos or good advice about it. It is very frustrating.
I am here in search of potential causes, remedies, and anything that may help point me in the right direction.
Thank you very much.

If anyone would like me to post a snip-it of me speaking Japanese, I can do so.
Wha? Are you forcing a specific vocal sound or something?
Hehe, the pronunciation of R in English gave them a tongue twitch when they were not used to it.
Assuming you’re speaking for an hour straight, no wonder your throat hurts. Does your throat hurt when speaking that long in your native language? Are you speaking especially loud?
I’m wondering if it’s tongue tie (frenulum linguea breve).

Rest bro, that’s a sign that maybe you might wanna dial it down a bit.
It sounds like you are using high nasal sound? Which might be causing the discomfort? Maybe try doing some vocal exercises to relax your voice a bit before speaking exercises.
