EN Legal Translator Help

I’m sure this has been asked here before, but does anyone know of a competent (ideally cost friendly) translation service for certified EN translation of legal documents like birth certificates, koseki, etc.? Doesn’t have to be based in Japan. Thanks in advance for the help.

  1. I’m sure most of the larger translation agencies in Japan handle certified legal translation. Just Google 翻訳会社 and ask. I’m sure it’s even fine to reach out in English because their staff understands it (usually).

  2. If you need this to bring to an embassy or your home country, make sure to ask at the embassy. Sometimes embassies have approved list. Sometimes like Japan accept your own translation.

  3. Check with the embassy of the target country, they should be able to provide you with a list.

  4. Samurai Translators are very reliable. We have used them several times for these types of documents.

  5. I’m a NAATI-certified JP>EN translator 🙂 Feel free to DM me re: certified translations of legal documents.
