Super Mario World

Hi everyone! I’m struggling with an upcoming trip to Japan (in 9 days) and have been baffled by the ticketing process for Universal Japan in Osaka.

I tried getting tickets a month or two ago and it and it told me the dates weren’t available yet. Not that were much closer there isn’t a single day that seems like there is availability. Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss the boat? Any advice would be incredible.

  1. Try to book through Klook. I was having huge problems with both USJ and Disney refusing my card, Apple Pay didn’t work for no reason. So I just booked with Klook. (When Disney website failed, it even suggested me to book through Klook)

  2. Looking at the site right now I can see availability for two tickets for the entire month, starting from 4/10. Have you tried a different browser? Also be sure your cart is empty, if you have any tickets in your cart somehow it will lock out all the other dates.

  3. You can book using Klook. here are your options you access super nintendo world

    1. check if there’s a day pass + super nintendo world.
    2. get a day pass + get a usj express pass 4 any of the following The Flying Dinosaur, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem or Fun RIde
    3. get a day pass, be very early in USJ if it opens early run direct to super nintendo world.

  4. I had everything in my cart on USJ website, at the time there were plenty of tickets. I input my details and then kept getting an error saying ‘product price not recognised’ when clicking into payment. After a couple of tries emptied my cart, now no tickets are available whatsover 🙁 super confused!

  5. I spent ages on this issue. I ordered my tickets directly through the USJ ticketing website. Hopefully the following tips help:

    1) I found it better not to add tickets to my cart but to add the fast passes first. This showed which dates and which tickets were available for fast pass. Note it seems a lot of fast passes weren’t available for the dates I wanted.

    2) When I first tried, it says there was “No stock” for the next two months for any fast pass (4 or 7). I tried about half an hour later and there was some availability.

    3) I think the flying dinosaur is out of order from May 8 or so, and any of those fast passes are unavailable after that.

    4) I’m located in Australia, my Visa and Mastercard did not work, but my American Express did.

    Hopefully something helps there!

  6. Might be my lack of understanding, but we went yesterday after buying tickets in advance. However, just because you have USJ tickets does not mean you can go into Super Mario World. Once in the park you have to sign up for a lottery timed entry ticket to the area (early in the day before they are all gone) then a lottery is drawn and some people are allowed in from that and others not. For us, we didn’t win. So I couldn’t enter.

Harry Potter World was good. The queues for some rides in the park were over 3 hours, and the queues for food were massive (even just popcorn stands were massive).

People queue for the parade (which only happened once all day) an hour before it starts. Then 10 minutes before they announced they may cancel due to weather; it was overcast with 10% chance of rain. The parade had 4-5 floats and a dance group between each one. Compared to Disneyland Paris, this was shockingly poor.

After seeing queue lengths we tried to book express passes but couldn’t seem to find a way to do it online apparently you can get then at the ticket gate but as we were already in the park we couldn’t exit to go to the ticket gate to get them as Once we left the park our tickets would not allow reentry, so we bit the bullet and looked at the scenery, a couple of events/shows, got some food and managed to fit in one ride before calling it a day.

We read everyone loved USJ on this reddit and reviews, but for us personally, it wasn’t worth it if you can’t get into Super Mario world. Would have rathered spent the time visiting other places. Maybe we were just spoilt from other theme parks in other countries mind, this is just our opinion. Your millage may be different to ours mind and if you do go I hope you enjoy.

  7. If worse come to worse. Just get the universal studio pass for the date and then get to the park 1-2 hours before opening time. Then beeline straight into super nintendo the moment the park opens.

As people here said, you can try to purchase specific express passes via klook to guarantee your entry into the super nintendo area but most of the express tickets (or all) would have sold out weeks in advance.

Hard emphasis on getting to the park early as yesterday we went at 8 ish and got sardine packed into the train from osaka to universal city (park opening time was 9am) and then queued with our prepurchased ticket until 9.30 for baggage check.
We bought express tickets for harry potter area and randomed a 10.50am timeslot that we didn’t need anyway.

  8. I spent two entire days to manage to get express passes for an entry day 4 weeks in advance. The English site is super buggy.

From my experience, during the nighttime in japan, it will show you no stock but if you try during working hours in japan (so early morning or late night where I am), there actually is stock. It seems like it is under maintenance or something like that during some hours although it doesn’t warn you, so that’s why you may be seeing no tickets left.

I ended up buying from the Japanese website, it was kind of a pain to translate everything but it ended up working out in the end.

One tip if you’re not getting Apple Pay to work for you: make sure you’re not using a virtual card as the mean of payment on your Apple Pay, since it apparently doesn’t accept (at least that’s what the warning in the Japanese website said)

  9. I ended up buying tickets and express pass exactly when they became available for my date on USJ app which was actually today (June 5 so 2 months out). I was able to buy at 7am ET this morning which I think was 8pm local? Express pass seems to be the most prized thing- by the time I bought, many slots were sold out. From what I read, it seems like the main benefit vs third party seller is that you get a confirmed time for access to the worlds? We got a 7 express pass including Harry Potter and super Mario. Paid with Apple Pay via Amex.
