Resources for old Japanese, especially related to the Hyakunin Isshu?

I’m currently studying the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu both for karuta and for the poetry itself. I like to comprehend the poems as thoroughly as I can, but between them being written so long ago and me not being quite fluent it can be difficult to really get it. I’m hoping for resources to better understand the old words, grammar, and patterns used. I’m aware of a book written in the theme of the show Chihayafuru, where explanations are given from the POV of one of the characters, but I haven’t been able to find it available for sale in the US (Amazon lists it but it’s not in stock).

For example a lot of poems end in [VERB] ~りけり, or the fact that 「てふ」is actually pronounced as 「ちょ」

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  1. Imabi has a [Classical Japanese section](https://www.imabi.net/classical.htm). Also consider Haruo Shirane’s [Classical Japanese: A Grammar](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/Classical-Japanese-Grammar-Haruo-Shirane/dp/0231135246&ved=2ahUKEwiXj5_Ks5P-AhV6AjQIHSCcCAUQFnoECEoQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3VCZYIOKQkUvEC1hQPVNIv).

If you just want to jump into 小倉百人一首 itself, [this page](http://www.manabu-oshieru.com/hyakunin.html) has fairly thorough explanations for vocabulary and grammar as well as translations into modern Japanese.
