Learning Japanese with Natsume Yuujinchou

I’ve watched Natsuyuu many times and I am whole heartedly willing to do it again, but this time I want to incorporate learning with the show.

Before I do I want to make sure that doing it using this specific show won’t be a waste of time.

I know there are things that shows are prohibited to say so it won’t be 100% natural but I want to know if it’s at least close.

So has anyone here watched it who knows if the show uses general language that is used in real life?

Despite some of the supernatural things in it, it feels like a show that demonstrates very genuine life, at least setting wise, and I’m wondering if it follows this idea with it’s language as well.

  1. It’s been a while, so grain of salt.

Most of, but not all of, the yokai use dated language or rather formal sounding language. I wouldn’t try to copy them, for the most part.

Aside from anime being anime and occasionally using stereotypes speech, it’s fairly average. Better than some shonen anime, especially with something like Nauto’s idiosyncratic speech.
