I can’t seem to find any specifics about the J-FIND visa for new graduates but I have a few questions if anyone could help me out.
* Is there a time limit from the time you graduation to be eligible for the visa or can you get it even for example 10 years after graduation assuming you’re looking for a job?
* Is there any inherit benefit in job hunting in Japan (assuming I have work experience) or is it better to do it remotely while already working in my home country? I noticed some listings say you must already be in Japan to apply so I’m curious. This is for the IT sector in particular.
* Do WHV have hour restrictions etc? I’ve noticed it’s more so for part-time work while holidaying so if I’m looking for a normal full-time office job would this visa suffice generally speaking? I understand there’s no need for companies to sponsor me if I have this visa so would that be a benefit in looking for work?
* Can I stack visas such as WHV then J-FIND then work visa or would this cause issues with immigration?
Thank you.

>I can’t seem to find any specifics about the J-FIND visa
That’s probably because it’s only a month old.
Not even, because it was *announced* in February, for implementation in April. As far as I know neither J-FIND nor J-SKIP have actually been implemented yet, so there are no specifics to be found.
>Is there a time limit from the time you graduation to be eligible for the visa or can you get it even for example 10 years after graduation assuming you’re looking for a job?
See above. Until it has actually been implemented there’s no way to know.

No, there’s no real benefit. A company that’s willing to hire foreigners is generally going to be willing to hire people from overseas.
The “must already be in Japan” thing means you have to already *reside* in Japan, with a valid status of residence. In other words, the company isn’t willing to sponsor your visa.
>Do WHV have hour restrictions etc?
No, but if you tell them you’re planning on working full time they will possibly reject your application, as it’s not supposed to be a substitute working visa.
>Can I stack visas such as WHV then J-FIND then work visa or would this cause issues with immigration?
You can only have one visa and/or status of residence at any given time.

According to [https://lawoffice-yokoyama.com/info/news230218en/](https://lawoffice-yokoyama.com/info/news230218en/) (and this is not an official source… I didn’t see anything on the MOFA site when I checked):
>Japanese govenment grants “Designated Activities”(J-Find visa) status to those who have graduated from world-class universities (Future highly skilled talent) within 5 years of their graduation, on the condition that they have enough funds to support themselves during their initial stay in Japan, and allow them to engage in preparatory activities for employment or entrepreneurship for a maximum of 2 years. Additionally, family members (spouse and children) of the J-Find visa holder will be allowed to accompany them.

The advice we’ve always given in this sub is that any employer worth working for will be able to find you and hire you from abroad. We’ve never recommended folks take shortcuts to come to Japan for job hunting. That being said, that is the express purpose of this new status of residence… so I guess time will tell.

>Do WHV have hour restrictions etc?
No.

You cannot apply for a visa (or a certificate of eligibility) from inside Japan. For Working Holiday you cannot request a change of status to that status type either. J-Find s very new but I sincerely doubt they will allow you to request a change of status to that status from Working Holiday. They’d probably allow it from student though. Time will tell.
