Hi Redditors,
First trip to Japan coming up, May 10-June 1, and I just want to double check my Itinerary and JR pass plans. We’re in our late 30s and looking for a mix of experiences. Here’s the rough plan but open to suggestions. I have accommodations booked with cancelation if I need to switch things around. Would appreciate any advice!
**May 10- Arrive in Haneda Terminal 3 station @ 3:40pm**
\-Activate e-sim, pickup JR pass.
\-Use Haneda airport limousine bus to Tokyo bay area (hotel location). Is it better to buy tickets on arrival or pre-purchase klook tixs?
**May 11- Tokyo DisneySea**
(tixs purchased)
**May 12- Tokyo DisneyWorld**
(tixs purchased)
**May 13- TeamLab Planets & Tsukiji Market & Odaiba Area**
(teamlab tix purchased)
\-Not sure if it’s worth staying around Odaiba for most of the afternoon-night, but we’ll be staying near Disneysea at this point. This is a bday day, not sure if there’s anything worth doing here to make it a little extra special?
**May 14- Ginza 6 & Roppongi**
\-Moving to a hotel near Tokyo station, figured these locations made sense for the day.
**May 15- Hakone + Hakone Loop**
*\*\*\*This is when I’m planning to activate 14day JR pass, still have to buy it.*
\-Bullet train to Odawara station. Will buy the 2-day hakone free pass here, unless its better to buy it in advance from klook? Just need to avoid the one with round trip Tokyo trains included.
\-check into ryokan in Gora. Then start Hakone loop.
**May 16- Hakone – Kyoto**
\-Part day in Gora, Hakone: check out of Ryokan / visit the open-air museum
\-bullet train from Odawara to Kyoto
\-check into hotel. Head to Nishiki market/Daimaru basement. Walk around Pontocho Alley.
**May 17-Kyoto: Kiyomizu-dera/Ninnen-zaka District/Yasaka shrine/Gion District**
\*book a tea ceremony in gion
**May 18-Kyoto: Fushimi Inari/Kyoto tower?/Philosopher’s path**
**May 19-Kyoto: Arahiyama bamboo grove/ monkey park/ tenzan-no-yu onsen spa**
**May 20- Hiroshima**
\-peace park, atomic bomb dome, peace memorial museum, memorial hall, Hiroshima castle. (I know the G7 summit is happening, but this still seemed like the easiest way to schedule this visit).
**May 21 Hiroshima – Osaka**
\-half day Miyajima: Itsukushima shrine
\-Osaka dontomobori area
**May 22- Osaka: Namba Shrine/ Osaka Castle/ Bay Area**
Bay area: marketplace, aquarium, ferris wheel
**May 23- Osaka: universal studios**
(tickets and fast passes purchased)
**May 24-Day trip to Nara/ Osaka Shinsekai neighbourhood**
Nara: nara park/todai-ji temple/Kasuga taisha manyo botanical gardens
Osaka: shinsekai neighbourhood
**May 25- Day trip to Kobe/ Osaka Minami Area**
Kobe: Atoa Aquarium/ kobe beef restaurant
Osaka: minami area
**May 26- Osaka Kita Area**
Umeda sky building/Hep5/tenjimbashi-suji
**May 27- Tokyo: Shinjuku City**
Bullet train to Tokyo. Check into hotel near Shinjuku station. Explore Shinjuku
**May 28- Tokyo: Akihabara/ Tokyo dome city**
*\*\*\*14day JR pass ends midnight*
**May 29- Tokyo: Skytree/Asakusa neighbourhood/Senso-ji temple**
Skytree: buy tickets through klook
**May 30- Tokyo: Meiji shrine/Harajuku/Shibuya City**
Shibuya Sky: buy tickets through klook
**May 31- Tokyo: Free day**
\-use for anything missed
**June 1- Tokyo: Haneda Airport**
\*book airport shuttle with hotel

I’m wondering if I have my itinerary so simple and spread out that I’m missing out on visiting another location? What are some of your favourite day trips/or general areas from any of my major spots that I haven’t planned for?
