Autumn colors Hokkaido…Itinerary advice please :)

Please have a look at my itinerary and let me know if my timing is out of whack anywhere. Main thing is am I too late to Daisetsuzan and all I’m going to see is naked trees?

Oct 13 – Land CTS airport – pickup rental car – drive to asahikawa 3.15 hours via furano and biel

* Shurogane Biei Blue Pond & Shirahige Falls
* Shijitsu no oka hill – roller coaster hill on this route

14 – Daisetsuzan national park

* Asahidake ropeway and hike around pond
* Asahiyama zoo
* Snow museum
* Ramen village

15 Kurodake ropeway soundkyo gorge

* Soundkyo gorge 8 waterfalls trail
* Ginga falls and ryusei falls

16 -17 – Jozankei onsen

* Futami suspension bridge
* Lake shikotsu boat ride
* Jozankei Dam and Hoheikyo Dam

18 -19 – Sapporo

* Sapporo beer museum – free
* Hokkaido university avenue – yellow trees
* Hiraoka jugei center – red leaves
* Mount moiwa observation deck
* Nakajima park
* Maryuyama park
* Historical village of hokkaido

20 F – Fly to Kyoto/Osaka for a week…realize that I am too early for colors here, but want to finish out the trip here.

    Not worth it in mid-October imo, the peak is usually mid/late September so you are going all the way there just to see largely barren tree branches.

    More generally, because Hokkaido foliage is less popular in English circles, I suggest checking Japanese websites to find out the typical peaks (you can do anything with Google Translate).
