Does Shinagawa Ward office have English translators?

I’m a new resident in Shinagawa and need to register my residence. I’ve tried googling but haven’t found any concrete answers. Can anyone tell me if the Shinagawa Ward Office has English translators available or if I’ll need to find one myself? Thanks!

Edit: thanks for all the responses! You guys have been super helpful!

  1. You may also want to try asking in /r/Tokyo.

  2. All the forms have English and with a bit of pointing and gestures it’s really simple.

Back when I had zero Japanese I never had a problem doing immigration or city hall stuff.

  3. I was just there yesterday registering my residence and they do have assistance in English and if not they are very helpful in trying to understand/point you in the right direction.

  4. I barely speak any Japanese, and with some google translate, my limited Japanese, and the person helping me’s limited English I was still in and out in less than an hour. They let you write everything in romaji, too (which I did not know the first time I moved).

  5. They’re there to help you. Look up a few key phrases in Japanese for what you want, or just use google translate, and they’ll help you get the right form. Don’t be afraid of bungling your way through things, it’s part of the fun.
