Differenec between 書類 and 資料

Both should mean “document” but i think there’s some kind of difference

  1. Just to give some additional notes on usage: office paperwork is 書類. The the context I most often hear the word in. 資料 on the other hand, I often hear in the context of 資料館, for example the Japanese name for the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is the 広島平和記念**資料**館. This museum displays a lot of historical artifacts from the bombing, including personal possessions of victims, remnants of buildings, flyers from the era, etc.

    Those aren’t the only uses, but hopefully those examples help to clarify some of the differences in the way the words are used
