I Can’t Choose What book to use

Right Now I have three options of books to learn Japanese

1) Genki
2) Nihongo fun and easy
3) Minna no Nihongo

Which one should I buy from these and why ?
(I don’t Care that much for the pricing)

  1. I can’t speak for Nihongo fun and easy, but I used Genki in my American uni and Minna no Nihongo in my Japanese uni (just one semester). Genki is a solid source and pretty easy to progress through. I felt like the small amount of time I spent with Minna no Nihongo was good but it felt much more clinical than Genki did. However, Genki felt a bit more childish than Minna no Nihongo.

My suggestion is to, if possible, leaf through both in a bookstore or something and see which one seems more accessible to you personally. If that isn’t possible, I’d probably give the edge to Genki. It’s a solid entry into learning Japanese. It presents new vocabulary and grammar in a pretty easy-to-understand format.

  2. Genki has some youtube videos to walk you through

But I think it’s most important to stick with it than to worry about which beginner textbook. They’ll all have good content and they’ll all just be good enough to get you past beginner phase and into something more interesting hopefully.
