So I’ve gotten an offer to move to Tokyo as a foreign lawyer for a Big 4 Japanese law firm – had a few questions about it
-are foreign lawyers expected to work the same crazy hours as Japanese lawyers?
-are there any work-life balance initiatives at the Big4?
-do foreign lawyers get paid less than their Japanese counterparts?
-what’s an average day like for a foreign lawyer? Do you have evenings and weekends off?
TIA!

A little dated but helpful https://www.asiaoptions.org/dallan-pitman-and-life-at-a-japanese-law-firm/
I’m probably going to work for a US law firm at some point in Tokyo. More on a consultative basis as counsel in corporate governance.
