Hi guys,
I will be graduating next May with a undergraduate degree in Japanese. I want to study abroad in Japan to further my language learning. I am thinking either for the summer 2024 or Fall 2024 as a self financed applicant. Do you guys have any recommendations?
Few preferences:
1, Kansai region is ideal, but as long as its in Honshu, I am down to go!
2, Preferably at a four year institution. But I am open to new ideas!
3, A program that can help me transition from n3 to n2 (or get close to N2)
4, A program that is not too selective…

Thank you so much in advance!!! Any insights are appreciated!

Do you mean summer as in a short course in the summer, or starting summer?
And by four year institutions, you mean at a university?
Semesters start in April or October (though short term 3 month courses can start in between there as well)
University-held language programs are often for exchange students from other universities. You would be looking at a language school, for a max of 2 years. Most are not very selective.
Look at go go nihon, they have lots of options and can explain differences between some language schools.
Since you’re majoring in Japanese, have you talked to your advisors? They should have knowledge of the various programs currently out there.
While many university summer programs are only open to exchange students, some are open to “unaffiliated” students or those who have recently graduated. I think Waseda used to have a summer program that accept unaffiliated students but that was a while ago.
