Expired Car Shaken

I completely forgot that mg car shaken is expired for 1 month. What should I do? Can I drive it to yellow hat or autobacs to get it inspected?

  1. Don’t drive it as is.

You can call a tow truck to have it hauled to Autobacs, or you can go first pay off the jibaiseki at the designated office and then with that go to city hall to get a temporary license plate which will allow you to drive it to the shaken center.

  2. Driving a car with an expired shaken is risky. If you get caught the penalty can be severe. The safest thing to do would be to have the car taken to the nearest shaken place. You can call those places and see if they can have the car picked up or maybe offer other suggestions for getting it there.

  3. Driving with expired shaken and jibaiseki is a jailable offense. Don’t do it.

You can go to your city office and get a temporary plate and any insurance place can sell you temporary (7 days) jibaiseki to go with it. Do this, and then go to Autobacs (or any other preferred shaken place) to get a quote for shaken and get put on the schedule to get it done. Repeat the procedure when you take the car in for shaken – it may take a few weeks to get on the schedule.

Alternatively, call a wrecker and get it taken to a dealer, and they’ll handle it – usually faster – but it will cost more, usually in the range of double what an offsite place would charge.

Final option is to get the temporary plate and do user shaken. Plenty of guides online for how to do the user shaken, and it’ll save you a packet.

  4. The best option is make an appointment for your shaken and drive it the day of …people drive it with an expired shaken all the time … you won’t get arrested for it .. just be careful

  5. I’ll simply repeat what others said : driving without shaken is a crime, do not drive, go to city office and get a temporary something, phone every gasoline station around and take the car to the one that is available (you don’t even need to pass on first try i believe)
