Any Tokyo opticians that would be willing to help a foreigner not registered with them?

I’m having a big problem, I got new glasses before I came away on my trip to Tokyo and thought they were fine but they’ve started digging into my nose and have cut it quite badly. It’s painful as they keep digging in b hi t not going back until Friday next week.

Does anyone know of any opticians that might be willing to help? I’m staying in Ochanomizu but could travel if needed.

Thanks very much 😔

  1. Just take your glasses to any inexpensive chain glasses store (such as Zopf, Jins, etc, can often be found in shopping centers and department stores) and have them make you a new pair of glasses based off that prescription. They can be done very quickly (some even less than a day), and are cheap.

  2. Just go into a big store and ask them to help with an adjustment. If I understand correctly you don’t need new glasses, you just want these fitted properly? Afterwords just offer to pay something and they’ll probably say it’s not necessary.

  3. I had opposite problem. My US-made glasses were too loose. Went to Megane Ichiba in Osaka, they adjusted on site, free. They have stores in Tokyo.

  4. I just came back from a trip and my US-made glasses broke one morning while there. I just looked for a local optician on Google Maps that was English-friendly (based on reviews) and they made me a fresh pair within an hour for cheap. While I was there, I also asked if they could replace the nose pads and refit my prescription sunglasses too. I think you’ll be ok as long as you can communicate your situation.
