I am going back to Japan in October. My fourth time overall and 2nd time this year. The difference here is that a companion is bringing a boomer (her mom) and a gen alpha (her kid). We cant say no as she bought the tickets already and we dont want to ruin the frienship. Anyway here is the itinerary:
Day 0 – Arrival in Osaka, spend night in Dotonbori
Day 1 – Nada no Kenka Festival in Himeji, Himeji castle, Kobe Harbor at night, sleep back in Osaka
Day 2 – Osaka city tour – Minoo Park in the AM, Tennoji District in the PM, check out and transfer to Kyoto late in the night (friend’s insistence to sleep in Kyoto)
Day 3 – Arashiyama area (Bamboo grove, river and monkeys), Fushimi inari, Yasaka Shrine area to Gion
Day 4 – Ghibli studio (morning to late afternoon), late evening flight to Tokyo
Day 5 – Team lab, and then Ropongi area
Day 6 – Disney Sea
Day 7 – Hakone and then Robot restaurant in Shinjuku at night
Day 8 – Yoyogi Park, Harajuku and Takeshita Dori
Day 9 – last minute shopping then departure at night
Except for Kyoto and Hyogo area in Day 1, most of the days there is only 1 or 2 itineraries. I want to make it realistically full. I have been to 95% of the places included here so my aim is for my companions who would visit Japan for the first time enjoy. they do not know what to visit. I personally enjoy planning itineraries so it is okay.

Arashiyama and Fushimi inari in the same day is a lot. Personally I feel like Kyoto takes more than one day to enjoy
Unfortunately I believe the robot restaurant has closed. 🙁
