  1. Grammar question. In the following sentence I feel uncomfortable about the way と is “describing” the noun phrase. I feel like it should be という or something, not just と. I am reliably told that just と is fine but if someone could provide examples or a further explanation of this pattern then I’d be grateful.

    Sentence in question: 今年度は、総合学科21学級、福祉探求科3学級、計24学級と県下においても大規模を誇る県立高等学校です。

    I hope the reason for my confusion is clear.

  2. Is there ever any merit to focusing on vocabulary that’s more practical? In any resource I’ve used there’s vocabulary that just seems like it’s not all that useful to me, like maybe 焼き増し or くだけた言い方. Would you skip over these to focus on language you might use in conversation? Curious what people think
