I have my Residence card and passport with my maiden name.
Currently I am in my home country and delivered a baby.
My baby will have passport with my(mother’s) new name after marriage.
I am wondering can I enter back in Japan with my infant. Once I get his COE.
His visa will be sponsored by father(my husband, not japanese)

Question 2: Can I update my passport to my new name and still enter in Japan?
I know I have to update immigration, residence, ward, etc.
But is it even possible to change name when I am out of Japan?

Just bring your old and your new passport. No problem.
You can update your passport while in your home country, and bring both back in.
Once you get back, go to immigration to update your residence card.
Shouldn’t be an issue.
