They just can’t,there is not enough workforce. The place I worked in had 10 interns from China and Thailand, They were treated well . Abuse is there but it’s not always the case.

it’s pretty funny watching Japan get sunk by its own racism
it will be interesting to see if places like Korea and Japan will ever be able to get over their aversion to integrating immigrants into society, or if they will choose to do some dystopian baby-farming operation to preserve the race. I’d put my money on the latter

The governement proposed today to change the intern system to another one. will it be only a change of the package without any change of the cereals or not ? We will see it after the discussion of the revelation of the first meeting
Had a FWB who was a Filipino on the Technical Intern Training Program. Its definitely abused for slave labour. She had an insane curfew (8pm doors get locked, don’t get home in time? Get fined 3000 yen next day), one day off a week, wasn’t allowed to use any of her nenkyu, never got trained in any kind of certificates or otherwise for operating machinery and more.
It has to be eliminated and updated to prevent this kind of abuse.
They should probably scrap the ALT system as well, that’s pretty much just interning with extra steps and slightly better pay
