I know the rules for the genkouyoushi paper but if I buy a notebook, on whcih page should I start? Do I need to use is like a occidental book or like a japanese book?
Genkouyoushi notebooks are typically for vertical writing, so you’d start where any other vertical book would start. The spaces to the right of each square is intended for furigana and you will make it difficult if you insist on writing horizontally with the furigana spaces in between. If you must insist, it’ll be easier if you rotate the book when writing horizontally. Most texts have the furigana on top.
Though if you’re not being graded on how you use it, you can do whatever you want.
