Am i likely to get a 1 year when i do my first spouse visa renewal?

Got married last year. Gave them the initial application and got 1 year, which I expected.
However im curious if im most likely to get 1 year again this time? Is it common to get 1/1/1/something more these days?
As a bonus question, although if i apply for PR later will my 1-2 week late National insurance payments come back to haunt me?(they happened on the year before i got married, i think it happened twice).

Thanks

  1. Well, I got the expected 1-1-3 spouse visas which you often hear about so yeah, you most likely will get another 1-year before anything else. In my case this was after the initial 5y work visa so I got PR right after the 3.

Could you pay the insurance with the original slip/barcode? I’d say then it’s fine. I had one case where I was late about 1-2 days, called them and was told it’s not considered a late payment of the original slip still works (forget about the time limit). Got my PR just fine, no late payments on my documents.

  2. Just a rumor but I heard SORs are not so independent of each other. If you are applying for a spouse and you also turn in some documents showing work history, tax payments etc, you may have a higher chance of a longer SOR.

  3. I got 3 right off the bat from a 5 year work visa and then 5 year spouse but I was applying for PR at the time and got PR like 8 months later (we had been married 3 years)

  4. I never didn’t get 5 years and thought that was the norm until I started reading Reddit. 3 spouse visas, all given under different financial/employment circumstances, until I just went and got PR.

  5. I got a 3 right off the bat for my spouse visa.

Then I switched to PR. Your late payment won’t mean anything as long as it’s paid.

  6. I had late periods of more than six months as my company which said they would pay them automatically didn’t. Went direct to from working visa to a 3 year spouse the next year.
My higher qualified friend who does everything perfectly got five 1 years in a row. Good luck on the lottery!

  7. On my work visa I went 3-3 and on spouse, I’ve been 1-1 and I’m about to redo everything again

  8. Got 3-3-3-5 but I was on instructor visa first three times then when I changed to spouse I got 5

  9. Everyone keeps saying this but I got five straight away after one year in Japan. The best you’ll get is random anecdotes

  10. I’ve had 1 year for 3 years so far. We’ll see what happens when I renew again in Octobet

  11. Not much help, but in 1989 it was 6mo-6mo-6mo-6mo-6mo, and they keep coming to your house to make sure you’re actually living together ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
