Itinerary review – First-timer mostly solo travel – 21 days (April 25 – 28 & May 26 – June 11, 2023)

Hello everyone. I am a guy in his early 30s who is going to travel to Japan for three weeks on the last week of this month. It is going to be my first time in the country. A little bit of background about myself – I am into anime, video games, and Japanese food. Also, my friends (first-timers as well with similar interests) would be joining me for five days in the last week of May.

I have tried to plan this itinerary by arranging some of the busiest places to visit in the early morning or on weekdays to beat the crowd. I might have overlooked something or packed too many places for a day. Any opinion or advice would be much appreciated.

\> Questions:

* Around what times does public transportation becomes less busy at the mornings and nights? So I could bring my luggage comfortably with me (around 160cm). I am not at ease with sending luggage ahead yet.
* What happens if I miss a reserved seating/time for the JR Pass in Shinkansens? Do I get penalized or a free rebooking?
* Would exchanging yen be cheaper in Canada (before I leave) or in the Philippines (during my trip)?

Thank you very much for the time to check my itinerary and concerns.
