I’m planning to go to Hakodate for 2 days this December with my family (2 adults and 2 kids) and have planned the below:
Day 1:
* Arrive midday (flight from Tokyo)
* Drop luggage off (hotel TBC) and head to the Botanical gardens (see the monkeys for the kids) and Yukura shrine
Day 2:
* Start at the morning markets to browse around and try some food
* After head to the Red Brick warehouses and Motomachi before going up Mt Hakodate in the arvo/evening.
* At night visit Hakodate Christmas Fantasy
Day 3:
* Spend the morning at Goryokaku Park & the Tower Observatory
* Head to Sapporo via train around lunchtime
Questions:
1. Anything that I’ve missed thats worth adding? I can depart to Sapporo on Day 4 if needed.
2. Onuma park worth visiting in late December?
3. Are any parts too rushed or not worth doing?
4. Open to any suggestions on food to try there so throw them my way

depending on your itinerary you could visit Asahiyama Zoo up north instead. Otherwise your itinerary for 2 days in Hakodate is good. I used Hakodate part of my trip to chill and recharge.
Also anything with Hokkaido milk is worth trying – so good!
Hakodate is awesome. Eat all the soft serve!
