You can get more time by chlutting the base of the stem about an inch from the bottom and putting them in a cup of water. If you have the room for that

I’d cook them as soon as you can. Yam leaves deteriorates quite quickly, even when fresh from a farmer’s market. From a grocery store, it may have been in storage for a while already. Once they start wilting, they get slimy, so an edible bunch can turn bad within 2 days.
