Looking for a present for a newborn

Hey guys!
So I will be going home for vacation soon and wanted to bring something from Japan to a friend’s newborn back home. Under 100 bucks would be nice.
Any ideas?

  1. I was in a similar situation and bought a set of nursery clothes for newborns for around 5千円, it was flat so very easy to pack.

  2. Does Japan Mint sell those birth-year uncirculated coin sets still? Those are a nice keepsake gift (and should leave enough space in your budget to get a plushie or clothes or something)

  3. Take a look at Miki house (ミキハウス) they have a lot of well quality gift set and I think that 100 bucks is sufficient to buy something good

  4. As a father who has a 1 year old child, a lot of the gifts I got were clothes and towels and I definitely appreciated them! I tend to defer to uniqlo for clothes cuz its ridiculously cheap/cute/durable, but its definitely nice to have a set of “nicer” clothes from like Miki House. Towels are always very useful to have around when you have a newborn.

First shoes are also nice too, but the kid wont be needing them until 10months or so tbh. So my bets with clothes or towels (aside from stuff like baby formula/ diapers lol).

Also baby cutlery/dishes were nice too! Hope this helps

  5. Some fancy stores will embroider names too- I got a baby blanket for a friend and was offered the service. It was well-liked.

  6. Just go full Japanese and get a kimono/yukata style thing for the kid. Or buy the baby chest carrier thing cause I know I’d never seen one of those before coming here
