So, I’ve been waiting to go to school in Tokyo for over two years now. Finally I got the chance to go starting April. But UPS lost my CoE and basically said there’s nothing they can do.
The embassy said I need to get it re-issued, but my school said they don’t even know if the government will re-issue for a lost CoE.
I can’t put into words how mad I am. Has anyone had something like this happen? Can they get it re-issued? Any idea how long it will take?
I was supposed to start class the 8th, obviously it’s too late for that, but I thought maybe I could miss a week or so if class and make up, but even that is looking less and less feasible.

you need to reapply for them to issue a new one, as in ur school will have to resend the documents. it should be about a month to get a new one i think. you could also try to submit a lost property form with your local police station
Sorry to hear that. You need to apply for a new CoE. You can also ask your school to prepare an explanation letter so that the immigration bureau might expedite the assessment process. I’m actually in the same situation, but FedEx lost my CoE. I can’t believe UPS lost your CoE, as I was planning to use UPS for the new CoE shipment. Good luck to both of us!

Same thing happened to me and someone called me who got my package and I had to drive to get it. US mail service sucks.

Same thing happened to me lost mine, I reapplied for a new one it has been more than a month nothing yet. Did you get your new COE already?
