Would owning a YouTube channel affect my future in Japan?

Recently I have been wanting to start my own youtube channel as a side hobby – it’s going to be in English, with the main topic being learning Japanese. It is also important to mention that I do not currently live in Japan, but it is my main ambition to make it my home in the future (including getting citizenship).

But I am not very aware of the impact this will have on my future. Does owning a YouTube channel negatively affect my chances of employment? Is it frowned upon in some way in society? Are there any other concerns I should have about it?

Edit: Probably not doing it, thanks for the replies everyone 🙂

First, you don’t **own** anything. You might operate it, but ownership still resides entirely with Alphabet Inc. DBA YouTube. You might even be generating income/revenue from that but as long as you’re disclosing everything and paying taxes on said revenue as applicable, what you’re doing isn’t wrong depending on what the content of that channel is.

  2. what kind of content are you planning on doing lol? like comedy style or serious language learning? I am curious because I always thought it would be cool to start a youtube channel in japan myself. The problem is the whole japan vlog thing is kinda saturated.

  3. I wish having a Japan themed YouTube channel was grounds for deportation, but unfortunately that’s not the case

  4. Tokyo (Iwate) Swan comes to mind. I don’t know if he mentioned his YouTube channel when he applied for JET, but he certainly was a popular VTuber in regards to Japan at the time.

I doubt it’ll cause a problem. Is it even on the application form?

  5. Check out that guy who make ‘let’s enjoy exciting tokyo’ video
if that guy is okay, you’re gonna be okay.
