Japanese translation for the word “quaint”?

I’m doing a project where I need a Japanese translation for the word “quaint”. Since it is not a common word I doubt I would get an accurate translation online, so would anyone be able to provide a translation? Thank you in advance!

  1. It depends on the context, and I am not a native speaker, but you might consider something like 庶民的な. It has a “folksy” vibe to it, but also kinda means “popular with the working class” or “blue-collar.”

Following to see what native speakers say 🙂

  2. my suggestion is to look up the English word in Japanese, and see what / how it’s explained that way, plus whatever the equivalent in Japanese is. For example:

    quaint 意味

    quaint とは

    quaint 日本語

  3. Finding specific words with exactly the same nuance can be impossible between dialects. I’m a native speaker of American English and can’t even find a word for “twee” from British.

Trying to do the same thing between unrelated languages is a fool’s errand.

  4. “いい感じで奇妙なsomething” is what an older Japanese gentlemen and myself came to the conclusion of for this word about 5 years ago or so

He wanted to the the Japanese meaning for it and researched for weeks until he eventually settled on this
