It’s not mentioned often enough that the N in “ni” is palatized

It took me some tome to realize that the N in “ni” is palatized, like the Spanish Ñ.

In my opinion resources don’t point this out enough, so I was pronouncing it with a strong N instead in the beginning.

Is it just me, or I used the wrong resources? Might the reason be that this is not crucial for beginners?
