  1. To put it in perspective population wise, it is like losing a city the size of Seattle or San Francisco every year.

  2. In a way that’s a good thing and every country should follow suit, the planet is clogged with too many humans.

Every country should adopt the one-child policy.

There are many things that could be done however, but the Japanese government is too old and stubborn to consider it, like the first easy step is to allow dual citizenship.

  3. I see, so that is why I started to feel like there was more room to breath walking around Tokyo! (sarcasm)

  4. Has the government actually done anything other than discussing and considering?

  5. The old men are only going to start caring when they notice that there are fewer schoolgirls to perve on and fewer Japanese Only hostess bars.

  6. A lot of Japan is starting to look like a developing nation, with no one to do upkeep.

Just not enough hands to fix everything. Government is really hoping outsiders don’t leave the tourist traps so they won’t notice.

I do feel like this is a reason some small communities are so inward-focused…they’re so self-critical they’re afraid foreigners might judge their community harshly, so they overcompensate to draw attention away from that.
