Yes, but it would work better as poke, though even then, you’d know it wasn’t “fresh” maguro/ahi.
No. It literally says Grill Bake Broil on the sticker. As a Japanese, I’d never eat fish that doesn’t have “sashimi grade” on their label.
Don’t cheap out on the fish bro
Sushi No maybe spicy tuna or poke still pushing it with the frozen ahi for me I would never but not everyone can afford to buy expensive fresh blue fin or hawaiian Big eye Ahi🤙🤙🤙🤙
I’m going to be very sincere here. It is probably the same quality as most sushi restaurants. Only already cut and stored. If it comes frozen, at least it is safer in terms of bacteria or parasites.
I’m a sushi chef and unfortunately, this is the reality of things. What the bag says doesn’t really count that much.
Restaurantes tend to cheap out on everything. Even the best ones.
Probably only 5 star do not… even so I know some interesting info.
Ask in your restaurantes about where they get their fish. And fresh doesn’t always mean quality..
Poke, for sure. Maybe tekkamaki. I wouldn’t bother with nigiri
It is going to be fishy and gross and won’t kill you. It will taste like shit. You are better off buying random ass tuna from any random grocery fish counter. That is guaranteed to be horrible, but again it won’t kill you so whatever.
I would go the poke route and even let it marinate in the fridge over night to get a little better imo. My bro isn’t a fan of the extended marinade (probably because it takes a whole night to eat), but if make enough you can have some fresh and then have the rest the next day to taste the difference.
Also, I think fish is smoked. Around what region do you live? maybe I can find a decent enough store by you to shop for fish. It’s very likely there is one since fresh seafood is pretty much ubiquitous across the US, so there’s bound to be a good/restaurant distributor near you and they might distribute to a shop for retail sale.
Still eatable maybe make ahi tataki style which is seared half raw half cooked with a ponzu dipping sauce for me I try and stay away from the frozen and chemical treated Co2 Maguro🤙🤙🤙🤙

Interesting idea. Want to see what others say.
