Comparing Ritsumeikan (OIC) and Keio SFC

I am a prospective student from the U.S. and am interesting in studying engineering. I found two universities above which are Ritsumeikan University’s ISSE Program and Keio University’s GIGA program in SFC.

I had a few questions about these two universities:

1. Is it true that there are a lot of returnees in the Keio SFC Campus?

2. Is it common for people in Keio SFC to go to Tokyo to hang out although it takes about 50 mins? If not, where do most students hang out?

3. Is it true that Keio SFC is looked down upon by the main campus in Hiyoshi?

4. Is Ritsumeikan’s OIC or Keio’s SFC more lively or have more places to hang around and spend time?

5. Where do students in Ritsumeikan go to hangout?

Thank you.

  2. They are both very good schools, but Keio is more prestigious and ranks higher in university ratings.

So, out of the two uni’s Keio ranks much better on global rankings, if you’re planning on doing English taught programs which I assume you are based on the Uni choice.. both are pretty poor when compared to anything youde do in the US.

If you REALLY want to study in Japan doing an exchange year would be better, but if you want the whole hog experience, between the two Keio should likely win out.

Realistically though, Ritsumeikan is in the 700 – 800 ranking, Keio is around 200, so would carry more weight if applying to jobs in Japan after, if going for jobs in the US etc, neither really carry any weight.
