I have. In general they are not too much different from. American schools. The curriculum and some terminology is different but most foundational stuff is the same
There is only one official British international school in Japan – the British school in Tokyo. It is actually accredited by the British overseas schools association if I remember correctly. They usually recruit from the UK and advertise in the TES. They teach the UK national curriculum (with a Japanese spin I imagine) and have A-levels instead of the IB. Iāve never worked there but I imagine it would be like teaching in a private school in the UK. Well behaved and motivated students – in other words none of the problems youād see teaching in the UK. I also imagine that the living side is all taken care of by the school such as setting up your apartment, etc. But keep in mind youād need to be a qualified and experienced teacher from the UK to gain employment and it is probably fairly competitive.
