Taiyaki iron cast but no gas stove?

Hello guys,
I would love to gift my friend a Taiyaki maker like the one below but she does not own a gas stove…
Can you still use these on regular, electric stoves? Sorry if it’s a stupid question..

  1. Hell I’m a chef, and I’ve wondered about this. I don’t imagine it an electric stove would work, but you could try. My biggest worry would be damaging the stove top. Worst case you could get a portable gas range meant for camping.

  2. Get a portable gas stove for like $20. You can use it for cooking nabe and stuff table-side too.

  3. I think it would be hard to get even heating across the entire taiyaki pan. Does she have a gas grill? Or maybe she could invest in a tabletop gas burner. Would come in handy during a power outage/camping trip.

  4. I think the portable gas burner suggestion is the best one.

(Also I had hilariously bad results trying to use a tamagoyaki pan on an induction hob once, bad times.)

  5. I have one at home and use it on my electric stove, works just fine ◡̈.

I apparently didn’t consider the possibility that it would not work haha
But I have no issues when cooking them over medium heat.

  6. Does she own a induction stove?

    Then the answer is no.

The same for Takoyaki, not all pans work.

I have one from “Otafuku” and it works perfectly on a Induction stove.
