Shipping out large boxes to another country

I am helping a friend to find a way to send all his recording studio equipments and multiple guitars send back to his home country. How would this be possible with just boxes?

  1. The absolute cheapest way is to pay for it to be checked baggage on the airplane when he leaves. Shipping it is *incredibly* expensive.

If you insist on shipping it, boxes alone will not work, the guitars need to be in cases then boxes. If possible the recording equipment too, although those might survive better with styrofoam padding in a box.

  2. How big the boxes can be depends on the country you’re sending them to. I recently sent some stuff back to the United States and the biggest you can send through surface is 205cm and for EMS it’s 275cm. This is how you get the size. It also has a list in the fine print for different countries. [guide to check the box size for shipping. ](https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/service/i_parcel_en.html)
