7 JR pass plan

Hello everyone! I’m going to Japan in June and i’ll be buying the JR pass (7 day) for my 2nd week of the trip (first week is in Tokyo) . I saw the recent price increase so I’d like to try the jr pass at least once! So far I have this planned:

**Day 1: Tokyo-Kyoto**

\- Higashiyama district

**Day 2:** Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama

Day 3: Nishiki Market, Kyoto Manga Museum, Philosopher Walk .

\- The original plan was to take the JR train to another city (Osaka at first for USJ till I decided not to!)

\- *Kyoto -*

*Day 4: Another city*

*Day 5: Another city – Hiroshima*

\- Take morning train to Hiroshima

\- Use Hiroshima Loop Bus (JR).

\- JR Ferry to Miyajima Island to see the floating Tori Gate.

\- Go back to hotel

**Day 6: Hiroshima – Odowara (Hakone)**

\- Buy Hakone Free Pass

\- Visit the Open Air Museum 15 USD

\- Gora Park

\- Take Train to Sounzan to use the Ropeway (covered with Hakone Free Pass)

\- Cruise on Lake Ashi 10 USD

\- Hakone Detached Palace (free, can see views of Mt Fuji)

\- onsen (any recommendations?)

**Day 7: Odowara (Hakone) – Tokyo**

\- Owakudani

\- Hakone Jinja shrine

(nothing else planned so far)

\- Take train to Tokyo

If anyone has any recommendations of where to go for Day 3 – Day 5 let me know please! I was considering adding another night to Hakone so far. Any input is greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

  1. Do Miyajima first, Hiroshima in the afternoon. Do you realize how long it will take from Hiroshima to Hakone? You won’t have time to do all you listed on day 6. It also make no sense to use the ropeway in day 6 and again on day 7 for Owakudani. I would get a ryokan/hotel around Gora and only check the open air museum on day 6 and do the rest on day 7. Also, if you have time, consider getting to Hakone on day 7 and use the Romancecar to Tokyo on day 8, that would give you an extra day to visit around Kansai, like a day trip to Nara.

For the extra day, could be Himeji, Okayama/Kurashiki, Onomichi. Depends on what you are looking for.
