Haven’t watched it so I can’t say for certain, but I’d assume they’re probably using the alternative characters (壱, 弐, 参, etc…). They’re just fancier looking basically.

They are using the “Formal”/”Big”/”Banking” numbers
Kanji numbers in Japanese have fancy versions, that are used either for stylistic purposes, or in legal documents to prevent people from falsifying a 二 into a 三 for example.
Because the Chinese characters they originated from are also different.

Glad I wasnt the only one wondering this lol. I assumed it was some form of “fancier” script, sort of how Roman numerals are sometimes used stylistically or for fancy stuff.
It’s not just in the eyes of the upper and lower moon demons. One of the subtle flavors lost in the anime is that the various breathing forms of the demon slayers also use these “fancy” / old-fashioned kanji (in the manga).
So when Tanjirou shouts みずのこきゅう、にのかた、みずぐるま! in the anime, what you would see in the manga was 水の呼吸、**弐**ノ型、水車!! (with furigana). There’s that fancy 弐 instead of 二.
Oh, is this why zero has such an elaborate kanji versus the other numbers?
