Does anyone have any experience fishing in the Edo river and the surrounding canals on the Tokyo/Chiba border? I can’t find any reference to permits being required unless you are salmon fishing. Any idea what sort of fish these waters hold? I’m not necessarily looking to eat the fish, just have a little bit of fun on the weekends with my daughter as we are walking distance to the Edo River and there are heaps of canals in which I can see some pretty large fish swimming around most days when I walk over the bridges that cross over the canals. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Those large fish are just carp probably. Even eaten carp? Like chewing on a wedge of soggy toilet roll.
