ECC “1-day recruiting session” in Toronto?

Hi everyone, I’m aiming to apply for an eikaiwa position with ECC. If anyone else is in the same position, I want to confirm something:

There appears to be a mandatory 1-day recruiting session that takes place in Toronto and Los Angeles. I live in Virginia. Does this mean I will have to fly to Toronto to partake in this before I’m even accepted?

This is a pretty major cost for a pre-acceptance thing so I’m wondering if I misunderstood.

  1. Sadly, you are correct and you’ll have to travel for the interview. I’m not sure why they do this as most other companies do phone and video chat interviews.

  2. Yep, major cost and no guarantee of getting a job. I think Nova does online, not sure about Aeon.

  3. If you would like advice about the live interview just PM me. I interviewed with them a number of years ago but I can probably give you some pointers, especially if this is your first time looking at eikaiwa work.

ECC is one of the better eikaiwas. Its biggest perk as a worker is that they offer about 7 weeks paid vacation throughout the year. Other good companies are Aeon and Berlitz IMO, but every company has its positives and drawbacks.
