Couldn’t find any information online but I remember hearing somewhere that receiving unemployment benefits from Hello Work will affect future visa renewals/PR applications. Does anybody have any information about this? What about 傷病手当金 (injury and sickness allowance)?
I had to stop working earlier this year due to health issues and needing treatment. I believe I am eligible to apply for unemployment benefits, but if doing so will jeopardize future visa renewals, my chances at PR etc. I won’t even apply.
However, I already applied for and received 傷病手当金 a few months ago, so I’m wondering if this will have an impact as well?
I was under the impression that 傷病手当金 would come from my company’s private insurance, in which case the government/immigration shouldn’t even know about it, but tbh the place which granted my application (協会けんぽ) doesn’t seem to be a private entity, although I don’t know how to confirm this.

You cannot receive both 失業手当 and 傷病手当. Unemployment benefits are for people who are able and willing to work but unable to find work. If you are receiving disability, then by definition you are unable to work.
