Best app for advanced learners

Hi!
(First time poster, checked the wiki resources and FAQs, couldn’t see that this question had been asked before).

What app do you recommend for upper-intermediate/advanced learners of Japanese? Something engaging and easy to use like DuoLingo/LingoDeer but that would cover N2 and/or N1 grammar, vocab, kanji, listening, and reading?

Most of them are either for beginners and don’t go beyond N3, or only concentrate on kanji/vocab memorisation. Which are great! But not what I’m looking for.

Thank you if you have any suggestions!

  1. There is no money in apps for advanced learners because almost nobody reaches that level and those who do typically learn with native media.

  2. There are test prep books that target those certifications specifically that might interest you, but at that level there’s nothing an app can teach you that you won’t learn by reading, watching TV, talking to people, browsing Twitter, etc. In Japanese.

Apps can only lay out basics, but in your intermediate and especially in your advanced stages, everything you learn is refining and filling in gaps.

  3. Let’s see, BookWalker, Honto, Tachiyomi, Netflix, Hulu, anything with Japanese content basically. In all seriousness though, if you want to study specifically N1/N2 grammar and vocab you are basically limited to JLPT test prep material, which as far as I know is mostly textbooks and random websites which are just lists of JLPT grammar points and there aren’t many apps.

  4. I wasted literal years trying to find intermediate+ apps.

Turns put at that stage you need to just start picking apart books and TV shows.

  5. I heard that Nihongo No Mori (日本語の森) is great for N1-N2. Didn’t use it myself though since I’m still N5-4 level.

  6. – Books: A dictionary of intermediate Japanese grammar//(blue book) and Advanced (red book) grammar.

My go to for N1 / N2 everything.
