   I was curious on what is the interview process for a backend engineer position lately at Rakuten. I’ve looked around the internet and I can honestly say, I haven’t seen any recent experiences of how the process was and how difficult the interviews were. So i’d say, overall what I’d like to find out, if there are people who’ve recently went through the hiring process:

   * What are, currently, the interview stages?
   * How difficult are the technical interviews ?
   * Is the compensation package decent? Can you provide a ballpark ?

2. I interviewed there in 2021 so keep the time in mind.

   > What are, currently, the interview stages?

   I had 1 live coding round, 1 system design round, 1 round with the department head. Each round was 1 hour.

   > How difficult are the technical interviews ?

   Very easy compared to other interviews I was going through at the time. I remember one question can be solved with Radix sort, another one was a version of the two heaps question. The goal of the system design round was a typical API, with some discussions about the CAP theorem.

   > Is the compensation package decent? Can you provide a ballpark ?

   It was decent enough but not that high. They offered me 10M (salary and bonus only, no stock) and I managed to negotiate for 12.5M. Didn’t join them though.
