Hello! My husband and I are going to travel to Japan this October 5-20, I know it’s still months ahead but we’re planning this as early as we could to try and minimize anything that could potentially be a stressor in the trip. It’s his first time coming to Japan, and I’ve been there quite a few times since we have family members living in different prefectures. The details below is what we managed to think of, highlights of the trip is mostly touristy destinations, anime and gaming.
Note that this itinerary does not have any food stops because we don’t have any places in particular that we want to try, we both agreed to eat whatever we want and whenever we feel like it to avoid having to stress about reservations or having a specific time to eat that might get delayed or changed in the end.

We just want to enjoy Japan as much as we can without feeling too cramped and stressed about where and what to do. Is this an “Ok” itinerary, I know it’s a little vague and it’s not super packed but that’s honestly what we want, to take a time and stroll around. Our luggage wouldn’t be a problem, we’re going to ship them from the airport to Nagano, then from Nagano to Tokyo. Otherwise, we’ll have a small suit case for our clothes and a backpack to travel back and forth with.
For this, would you suggest getting a JR Pass?
Thank you so much for your response!

JR pass isn’t worth it. Your long distances legs are over a 9 day period and a 14 day pass needs a much further destination to break even.
